Make new friends while uncovering the wonders and science of the universe!

Do you enjoy looking up at the night sky with a sense of wonder and amazement? Do you have dreams of exploring the great beyond of outer space? How about just wanting to know more about the sky, NASA, and the universe? Then the Girl Scout Astronomy Club (GSAC) is just for you!

Our Club Goals and Mission:

  • A community for girls to make new friends with girls who are interested in space science and STEAM.
  • An environment that promotes the 3 keys to Girl Scout leadership.
  • Girl led.
  • Learning by doing.
  • Cooperative learning.
  • Provide opportunities to younger Girl Scouts and inspire them to learn, lead, and grow in STEAM.
  • Learn about the wonders of science in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Council wide opportunity, open to all girl scouts.
  • Hold special events: overnights, planetarium shows, and field trips.

An annual club membership fee of $25 is good from October 1, 2020 - September 30, 2021. Membership includes a club T-shirt, patch (girls must attend at least 4 meetings to receive the patch), and general meetings.

Our Club Meets:

  • Kick off is International Observe the Moon Night at the Planetarium! Don't forget to register!
  • First Friday of Each Month – Virtual Zoom Meeting with Club Girls (2 hours) - read Zoom guidelines for GS – Zoom agreement for girls and adults
  • Third Friday of Each Month – In Person observing Night with club girls (2 hours)
  • Fourth Friday of Each Month – Open Observing and Badge night for younger Girl Scouts (Club Girls are required to help at at least 1 of these nights)

The GSKSMO Astronomy Club is supported by the Planetarium of KC, The Astronomical Society of Lawrence, NASA, SETI and Goddard Space Flight Center.
