CIT, or Counselor-in-Training, is a leadership program for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. CITs will go behind the scenes with Girl Scout Adventure staff to see what it takes to run a zipline, rappel tower, climbing wall, or range.
CITs will work alongside our Outdoor Experience Team, and train with our Adventure Staff. Your girl will learn how to facilitate adventure programs for fellow Girl Scouts! CITs will gain valuable on the job experience while assisting with group warm-up activities, debriefing, processing, and other tasks at the adventure elements. CITs may become eligible to earn their CIT Bar, which requires at least 30 hours of service to the Girl Scout organization. CITs should demonstrate an elevated level of initiative and maturity, work well both under the supervision and independently, and be punctual. When scheduled for shifts, CITS should treat this as a real job, and the CITSs should be able to communicate well with staff, supervisors, and girls. CITs will be asked to commit to required training, in-service dates, workshops, and a minimum of 30 hours during the season, running anywhere from 8-12 weekends. Upon successful completion, girls will earn the CIT Bar and progress to CIT II if she chooses. |
